The Philadelphia South Asian Association (PSAA) was founded in 2013 by two mothers who shared a vision for their children and their communities. They envisioned a community in which their children could learn about and appreciate their South Asian heritage and culture. A secular, parent-led curriculum was created that encouraged learning about South Asian food, dress, religion, geography, holidays and much more.
Our monthly Saturday meetings have been held at the Ethical Society in center city Philadelphia, and each session is a combination of didactic teaching, and interactive projects and games. Each year the curriculum has evolved to meet the growing needs and expectation of the families involved, though our philosophy of fostering appreciation of South Asian culture and creating a community for the future generation has remained unchanged. We look forward to our 2016-2017 year being just as much fun and educational as in years past.
Welcome to another year of PSAA!
